New Brunswick League

From BR Bullpen

The New Brunswick League of 1890 was a Non-Signatory League, which meant that it did not sign the National Agreement of 1883.

As baseball grew in popularity in the province of New Brunswick, during the 1889 season, teams from Fredericton, Moncton, and St. John organized a three-team contest for the Spaulding Pennant. With each team playing 12 games, the pennant was easily won by St. John[1]. For 1890, four teams formed the New Brunswick League, with a second team from St. John, the Shamrocks, joining the league[2]. The teams all formed from athletic clubs from their respective cities: the Fredericton Amateur Athletic Association, Moncton Cricket and Athletic Association, St. John Athletic Association, and Shamrock Athletic Club.
