Team History[edit]
Formerly the Modesto Reds until 1974, the Modesto A's began play in 1975. From 1997 to 2002 the Oakland A's operated two California League teams, including the Modesto A's. In 2000 the Visalia Oaks beat Modesto in the playoffs. In 2002 Modesto beat Visalia. In 2005 they were renamed the Modesto Nuts.
By going 96-40 in 1994, the A's posted a winning percentage of .706. No US-based minor league team has matched that figure since (as of 2025), although the West Michigan Whitecaps have come close twice, posting identical records of 92-39 (.702) in 1997 and 2025.
