Biographical Information[edit]
Scott Emerson reached AA as a player before becoming a coach. Emerson pitched professionally for six seasons in the Baltimore Orioles (1992-1995), Boston Red Sox (1995-1996), and Arizona Diamondbacks (1997) organizations. In 1997, Emerson split his season between the High Desert Mavericks and the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of the independent Texas-Louisiana League. Emerson was 27-29 with a 4.16 ERA in 135 games, 79 starts in his career.
After a couple of years away from professional baseball, Emerson returned as a pitching coach in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization before moving on to the Oakland Athletics.

In 2015, Emerson was named bullpen coach of the Oakland A's, replacing Darren Bush, who moved to the job of hitting coach. On June 15, 2017, he was promoted to pitching coach following the firing of Curt Young. Emerson helped the A's to postseason berths in 2018, 2019, and 2020. He remained with The Athletics when they moved to Sacramento, CA in 2025.
