Biographical Information

Reliever Matt Daly pitched in the Toronto Blue Jays system from 2008 to 2012 and in independent ball in 2013. He peaked at Double-A. He was taken by the Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2008 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Rob Wooten; he was signed by scout Demerius Pittman.

He went 2-2 with 5 saves and a 1.46 ERA in 23 games for the Auburn Doubledays his first year, striking out 28 in 24 2/3 innings. With the Lansing Lugnuts and Dunedin Blue Jays in 2009, he went 1-5 with 20 saves and a 1.65 ERA in 52 games between the Lansing Lugnuts (44 G, 1.95 ERA) and Dunedin Blue Jays (8 G, 0.00 ERA). He tied Tyler Stohr for second in the Midwest League with 19 saves, behind Brad Brach's 33. In 60 innings, he had 65 strikeouts. He earned a spot on the Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star team in 2010, going 2-2 with 31 saves and a 2.50 ERA in 56 games for Dunedin; he had 63 Ks in 57 2/3 frames. He was second in the circuit in games, behind Noah Krol's 63, games finished (51, behind Krol's 61) and saves, behind Krol's 34. He earned a spot in the Arizona Fall League, going 0-1 with a 8.74 ERA in 10 games for the Peoria Javelinas. He fell off in 2011 and 2012, posting a 6.93 ERA the former year and a 4.52 ERA the latter. In 2013, he was 3-2 with a 3.18 ERA in 42 games for the independent Sioux Falls Canaries to wrap up his career.

Overall, he went 14-17 with 62 saves and 3.70 ERA in 270 games. In 330 2/3 innings, he allowed 289 hits and 162 walks (1.364 WHIP), while striking out 311 batters.
