Biographical Information

Masahiro Takumi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Takumi was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 3rd round of the 1992 NPB draft, and he hit .255/.294/.318 in 86 games in his first season. He had a .243/.329/.328 batting line with 17 steals in 1994, and he was 5th in steals in the Pacific League (tied with Tsutomu Ito) and 2nd in triples (tied with Ichiro Suzuki, Koji Akiyama, Hirofumi Ogawa and Kiyoshi Hatsushiba). Takumi collected 12 steals with a .277/.346/.358 batting line in 1995, and he was 4th in triples (4, 5 behind Hiroki Kokubo). He hit .241/.333/.380 in 59 games in 1996, but he only got 23 at-bats combined for the top team in the next three seasons. He went 14-for-64 in 2000, and he announced his retirement. Takumi was the fielding coach for the Orix Buffaloes from 2006 to 2007, and he also scouted for them, signing Keisuke Kobayashi, Ryota Muranishi and Kyosuke Saito.

Overall, Takumi hit .253/.325/.336 with 259 hits and 10 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
