Biographical Information[edit]

Keisuke Kobayashi was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 5th round of the 2016 NPB draft; the scout was Masahiro Takumi. He went 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA in 2017, but he was hit in the head by Hiroaki Takaya's comebacker on September 30 and his season ended. Kobayashi allowed 13 runs in 9 innings in 2018, and he pitched 20 games with a 5.71 ERA in 2019. He had a 4.05 ERA in 2 games in 2020 for the Buffaloes, and he was traded to the Hanshin Tigers for Yuya Iida. Kobayashi had a 2.25 ERA in 22 games in 2021, and he recorded a 1.59 ERA in 10 games in 2022. He notched 16 saves with a 3.29 ERA in the Western League in 2023, and he led the league in saves (tied with Shuto Ogata). However, he only pitched one inning for the big club, and he was released. Kobayashi then signed with the Oisix Niigata Albirex Baseball Club, and he announced his retirement in 2025.
