Biographical Information[edit]
Yuya Iida played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years. His brother Kazuya Iida also played in NPB.
Iida was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 3rd round of the development phase in the 2012 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2013. He then pitched for the Gigantes de Carolina in winter, and he was 2-1 with a 3.13 ERA. Iida was 9-0 with a 1.63 ERA in the minors in 2014, and he tied Nao Higashihama for the lead in wins in the Western League. He also went 2-5 with a 3.24 ERA for the top team, and he recorded a 3.48 ERA in 35 relief outings in 2015. Iida notched 4 holds with a 3.29 ERA in 30 games in 2016, and he had a 2.42 ERA in 19 appearances in 2017. He only pitched one game for the Hawks in 2018,a nd he was traded to the Hanshin Tigers for Ryoma Matsuda. Iida only pitched 4 more games for the Tigers, and he was traded to the Orix Buffaloes for Keisuke Kobayashi in 2019. He allowed 7 runs in 4 innings in 2020, and he announced his retirement in 2021.
Overall, Iida was 5-6 with a 3.89 ERA, struck out 169 and pitched 173 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
