Biographical Information[edit]
Luis Mieses has played in the minors and for the Dominican national team.
He was signed by Chicago White Sox scout Marino DeLeón. [1] He made his pro debut with the 2017 DSL White Sox and hit .263/.302/.320. Coming to the US the next year, he slipped to .226/.237/.328 for the AZL White Sox. Moving up to the Great Falls Voyagers in 2019, he batted .241/.264/.359. He tied for 7th in the Pioneer League with 14 doubles.
The 2020 minor league season was erased by the COVID-19 pandemic. Returning to action in '21, he not only hadn't missed a beat, but showed major strides, splitting the summer between the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (.305/.347/.463 in 52 G) and Winston-Salem Dash (.236/.278/.464 in 58 G); he had 31 doubles, 15 homers and 74 RBI. He led White Sox farmhands in doubles, one ahead of Blake Rutherford, was 7th in dingers (between Craig Dedelow and José Rodríguez) and led in RBI (five more than Micker Adolfo).
Continuing to show talent in '22, he hit .281/.324/.448 for Winston-Salem and .299/.333/.443 in 23 games for the Birmingham Barons; he had 39 doubles, 15 home runs and 88 RBI. He led the South Atlantic League with 34 doubles (five more than J.C. Correa) and was 5th with 72 RBI (between Bryan Ramos and Cody Freeman). Among White Sox minor leaguers, he was 3rd in hits (147, behind Lenyn Sosa and Oscar Colás), first in doubles (8 more than Mark Payton) and second in RBI (7 shy of Payton). Only five minor leaguers had more two-baggers that year.
Mieses slumped to 26 doubles, 9 home runs and 48 RBI for the 2023 Barons, hitting .236/.257/.356. He ranked 4th in the Southern League in doubles, between Rece Hinds and Will Banfield. A free agent, he was picked up by the Texas Rangers but fell down more to A-ball than AA in 2024, hitting a composite .279/.319/.470. He was on the Dominican team for the 2024 Premier 12, starting in left in three of their five games. He struck out against Tzu-Peng Huang of Taiwan his first time up. He was 0-for-6 for the tourney, with a walk from Chan-kyu Im of South Korea. He did have two outfield assists (with four putouts and no errors). [2]
