Biographical Information[edit]

Koki Saito has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Saito was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 5th round of the 2014 NPB draft; the scout was Takaharu Nakagawa.[1] He only pitched 6 games combined for the big club in his first three seasons, and he allowed 10 runs in 7 innings in 2019. Saito recorded a 4.01 ERA in 32 relief outings in 2020, but he only got 9 more appearances before the Buffaloes traded hm to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Ryo Ishikawa. He allowed 4 runs in his first 3 1/3 innings in 2023, and he was traded again on June 13 with Shingo Usami to the Chunichi Dragons for Takumi Yamamoto and Yuya Gunji.

The Sapporo native got his first win for the Dragons on August 2, and he was the second pitcher in NPB history whose first three wins were for three different teams, following Tomonori Kawamoto in 1987. He pitched well after changing teams, and he notched 11 holds with a 0.73 ERA in 31 games for Chunichi. Saito collected 19 holds with a solid 2.09 ERA in 56 relief outings in 2024, and he had a 1.64 ERA in 42 games with 19 holds in 2025.

Saito's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 90 mph), curveball, changeup, forkball and slider.
