Biographical Information[edit]
Tomonori Kawamoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.
Kawamoto was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 4th round of the 1977 NPB draft, and he spent his first five seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He pitched 11 2/3 shutout innings in 1983, but he stayed in the minors for the entire 1984 season and the Fighters released him. The Seibu Lions picked him up, and Kawamoto had a 2.25 ERA in 2 games in 1985. He was 1-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 1986, and he pitched a shutout inning in the 1986 Nippon Series. The Lions beat the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 8 games. Kawamoto was then traded with Kazuo Murai to the Chunichi Dragons for Hidetomo Kurioka, but he went 1-2 with a 6.38 ERA in 1987 and he retired.
Overall, Kawamoto was 3-2 with a 3.32 ERA, struck out 33 and pitched 89 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
