Biographical Information[edit]

Hidetomo Kurioka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.

Kurioka was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 2nd round of the 1978 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 1979. He hit .174/.269/.261 in 1980, and he had a .200/.200/.280 batting line in 1981. Kurioka only got one at-bat in 1982, and he played 64 games with a .154/.154/.154 batting line in 1983. He led the Western League in steals in 1984, and he had a 9-for-24 record for the top team. Kurioka got a career-high 115 at-bats with a .200/.258/.217 batting line in 1985, and he hit .234/.280/.277 in 55 games in 1986. The Dragons then traded him to the Seibu Lions for Kazuo Murai and Tomonori Kawamoto, but he didn't reach the big club in 1987 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Kurioka hit .218/.262/.266 with 54 hits in 7 seasons in NPB. The utility man had 268 PA in 274 career games, pinch-running with some frequency; he was 22-for-31 in steal attempts and had more runs (60) than hits.
