He hit .266/.326/.380 in 61 games in 1991, and he recorded a .287/.330/.351 batting line in 1992. He was 7-for-21 in 1994, and the Yokohama BayStars (the Whales having changed names in 1993) traded him with Takashi Watabe and Yoshitaka Mizuo to the Orix BlueWave for Atsunori Itoh and Tomiji Iizuka. Horie only played 2 games in 1995, and he was traded with Toru Takashima to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Koichi Oshima and Mitsuhiro Kubo. Horie was 1-for-8 in 1996, and he never returned to the big club again before he announced his retirement in 1998. He managed the Tokushima Indigo Socks from 2009 to 2010.

Overall, Horie hit .250/.319/.336 with 84 hits and 4 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
