Biographical Information[edit]
Toru Takashima signed with the Orix BlueWave in 1988, and he only got 7 at-bats combined in his first four seasons. He hit .196/.235/.196 in 35 games in 1993, and he improved to .268/.350/.366 in 1994, backing up Makoto Takada at catcher. Takashima had a 7-for-36 record in 1995, and he was traded with Kenji Horie to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Koichi Oshima and Mitsuhiro Kubo. He went 6-for-21 in 1996, and he was 2-for-28 in 1997. Takashima only played 9 more games for the top team, and he announced his retirement in 2000.
Overall, Takashima hit .228/.294/.308 with 60 hits in 8 seasons in NPB.
