Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Kendry Rojas was first signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an international amateur free agent on October 14, 2020. Born in Cuba, he began his professional career with the FCL Blue Jays in 2021 and improved steadily over the next few seasons, emerging as a top prospect in the organization in 2024 when he went 3-3, 3.43 in 11 games (10 starts) for the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League, then pitched in the Arizona Fall League. He showed some flashes of brilliance over these first few professional seasons, by being the starting pitchers in two no-hitters. The first came on August 14, 2022 when he combined with three other pitchers in a 5-0 win for the Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League, and the second on September 2, 2023 when he combined with Grayson Thurman on a 1-0 no-no, again for Dunedin.

2025 was a pivotal year for Kendry, in spite of injuries, as he reached AAA with the Buffalo Bisons after just 10 games, then on July 31st was involved in a major trading deadline deal, one that sent 1B Ty France and P Louis Varland from the Minnesota Twins to Toronto in return for OF Alan Roden, who had made his major league debut at the start of the season, and Kendry. He was assigned to the AAA St. Paul Saints to finish the season, making 8 starts there. Overall, his record was 2-5, 4.70 in 19 games (18 starts) spread among five teams, with 90 strikeouts in just 60 innings. The Twins added him to their 40-man roster after the season.

He started 2026 on a rehabilitation assignment with the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels of the Florida State League, made 1 start there, then returned to St. Paul. He only had time to pitch twice before he was summoned to Minnesota on April 21st. He made his major league debut the next day, taking over in the 5th inning for St. Paul teammate Connor Prielipp who had just made his own debut as the Twins' starter against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Kendry pitched 2 innings giving up 2 hits and walking 3 but without allowing a run as the Twins eventually lost the game, 3-2, on an 8th-inning run, a win that snapped a 12-game losing streak by the Mets.
