Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Connor Prielipp was first drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 37th round of the 2019 amateur draft when he graduated from high school in his hometown of Tomah, WI. He went on to attend the University of Alabama and was drafted again in the 2nd round of the 2022 amateur draft, by the Minnesota Twins after making only seven starts total for the Crimson Tide, his freshman season in 2020 being cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, and his 2021 season ending after 3 starts due to Tommy John surgery. He missed all of 2022 as a result, and to undergo the surgery again in 2023 after making just two starts in the Twins' system.
After all of these setbacks, his career got under way in earnest in 2024 when he made 9 starts spread among three levels of the Twins' system, going 0-1, 2.709 in 23 1/3 innings. In 2025, he got to stretch out a bit more, logging 82 2/3 innings over 24 games (23 starts) between the AA Wichita Wind Surge and AAA St. Paul Saints. Because he was not allowed to pitch deep into games, his record was only 1-9, but his ERA of 4.03 was decent, and he struck out 98 batters. In 2026 he started the year at St. Paul and was 1-0, 2.49 after 4 games when he got the call to Minnesota. His major league debut was a start against the New York Mets at Citi Field on April 22nd, with the Mets trying to snap out of a 12-game losing streak, one of the longest in team history. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 4 innings and was not involved in the decision as the Mets did eventually win the game, 3-2.
