Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Josue De Paula was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an international amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic on January 15, 2022, even though he was born in Brooklyn, NY and is a second cousin of NBA great Stephon Marbury. However, he explained that he fell in love with baseball at a young age, and went back to the country of his ancestors in order to make it into professional baseball more quickly.

He started his pro career in 2022 with the DSL Dodgers Bautista, hitting .349 in 54 games. In 2023, he moved up to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League, where in 74 games, he hit .284/.396/.372. He started developing his power in 2024, when he split the season between Rancho Cucamonga and the Great Lakes Loons, hitting 10 homers in 108 games, along with a .268 average, 69 runs, 62 RBIs, and 27 homers in 30 attempts. In 2025, he started the year with Great Lakes and in half a season - 78 games - had already matched his home run total from the previous year. He was selected to play in the 2025 Futures Game at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA, alongside Loons outfield-mate Zyhir Hope, and was named the winner of the Larry Doby Award as the game's Most Valuable Player. He hit a booming three-run homer off Noah Schultz in the 4th inning that put the National League in the lead for the first time, and the team held on to win the game, 4-2.
