Biographical Information[edit]
Josh Mallitz has pitched in the minors.
He was 1-0 with two saves as a high school sophomore, 2-1 with a 4.41 ERA as a junior and 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA as a senior. [1] As a college freshman, he struggled at 4-1, 7.33. He had a sophomore sizzling season, going 1-0 with two saves, a 1.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 48 K in 31 IP. With the Wareham Gatemen, he struggled (0-1, 14.54 in 3 G). He redshirted for 2023 due to injury; as a junior in 2024, he was 0-1 with a 4.28 ERA. [2] The San Diego Padres signed him as an undrafted free agent.
Making his pro debut, he allowed 7 hits and 3 runs in 3 1/3 IP for the 2024 Lake Elsinore Storm. In 2025, he struck out 57 in 54 1/3 innings between the ACL Padres (2 R in 4 IP), Fort Wayne TinCaps (3-1, Sv, 4.09 in 23 G) and San Antonio Missions (0 R in 6 1/3 IP). In winter ball, he had a save and a 1.42 ERA for the Senadores de San Juan. He then made the Israeli national team roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic; as usual, "Israel" consisted of Jewish Americans almost entirely - their lone Israeli was Assaf Lowengart. [3]
