Biographical Information[edit]
Jordan Procyshen has played in the minors and for the Canadian national team.
He was with Canada for their 2011 junior national team tour of Cuba. [1] He hit .418 with 15 homers as a sophomore, tying for the national junior college lead. [2] Transferring to Northern Kentucky, he smacked 10 homers as a junior and batted .276/.342/.488. The Boston Red Sox took him in the 14th round of the 2014 amateur draft, one round after Chandler Shepherd. The scout was John Pyle. [3]
Making his pro debut with the Lowell Spinners, he hit .259/.339/.315 in 19 games then moved up to the Greenville Drive (.300/.364/.433 in 9 G). In 2015, he was with both Greenville (.285/.356/.383 in 51 G) and the Salem Red Sox (.209/.309/.248 in 38 G), throwing out 33% of would-be base-stealers. Baseball America named him the best defensive catcher in the South Atlantic League. [4] With the 2016 Salem club, he hit .249/.302/.376 and gunned down 43%. Promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs for 2017, his batting slipped (.200/.295/.298) though he still threw out 39%. In 2018, he played for both Portland (1 for 8) and Salem (.226/.316/.278 in 39 G).
Moving on to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization for 2019, he hit .262/.277/.672 with 6 homers and 18 RBI in 16 games for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes but .165/.224/.266 in 22 games for the Tulsa Drillers. He took a break to play for Canada in the 2019 Pan American Games, a late replacement for Kellin Deglan. Starting at catcher for Canada, he hit .313/.353/.438 and no one tried to run on him. He had two doubles off Ezequiel Cufré. Hitting 7th in the Gold Medal Game, he went 1 for 4 in a 6-1 loss to Puerto Rico as Canada settled for Silver. [5]
He hit .241/.379/.422 for the 2020 Joliet Slammers when the affiliated minors were shut down due to COVID-19. Signing with the Texas Rangers, he spent 2021-2022 as a backup for the Frisco RoughRiders, batting .197/.325/.341 the first year and .222/.336/.380 the second. He split '23 between Frisco (3 for 11, BB) and the Round Rock Express (.247/.367/.356 in 25 G) to end his playing career.
Procyshen was bench coach of the Amarillo Sod Poodles in 2025 and Reno Aces in 2026.
