On August 10 and August 15, 1991, Harris pitched back-to-back 1-0 shutouts for the Padres. He pitched generally well for San Diego, with ERAs well below 3.00 every year from 1988 to 1991. After going 4-8, 4.12 in 1992, he started off strong on 1993, with a record of 10-9, 3.67 over his first 22 starts. On July 26th, he was traded to the expansion Colorado Rockies along with Bruce Hurst in return for Andy Ashby, Brad Ausmus and Doug Bochtler. He imploded completely in the thin air of Colorado. In his final 13 starts of 1993, he went 1-8, 6.50, then in 1994, his record was a disastrous 3-12, 6.65. He lost his spot in the starting rotation but still led the National League with 96 earned runs allowed. He signed as free agent with the Minnesota Twins before the 1995 season but could not regain his past effectiveness, as his ERA was 8.82 to go with a record of 0-5 over the final 7 games of his career. That means he ended on a run of 4-25 with an ERA of 6.90.
