Biographical Information[edit]

Gary Jones is the brother of Steve Jones

On September 25, 1970 he made his big league debut with the New York Yankees. In his first major league appearance, he faced the Detroit Tigers, pitching two scoreless innings with two hits allowed, one walk, and two strikeouts (Gene Lamont and Norm Cash).

Following the 1971 season, on December 2nd, he was traded by the Yankees to the Texas Rangers for Bernie Allen. He was promptly traded by the Rangers to the Cleveland Indians with Terry Ley, Denny Riddleberger, and Del Unser for Roy Foster, Ken Suarez, Mike Paul, and Rich Hand on that same day. However, he never played in the majors for the Indians.
