Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Gage Jump was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 2nd round of the 2024 amateur draft, out of Louisiana State University, after starting his collegiate career at UCLA and missing the 2023 season due to an injury. He was 6-2, 3.47 in 17 games as a starter in his only season at LSU, and prior to college had been drafted in the 18th round of the 2021 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres coming out of high school.
He began his professional career in 2025 with the Lansing Lugnuts of the Midwest League where he was 4-1, 2.32 in 6 games, earning a promotion to the Midland RockHounds of the Texas League on May 13th. He continued to pitch well at the higher level, making the American League's roster for the 2025 Futures Game and finishing at 5-6, 3.64 in 20 games. Between the two stops, he logged 112 2/3 innings and struck out 131 batters while walking 34. He was the Texas League Pitcher of the Month for May. In 2026, he began the year with the AAA Las Vegas Aviators, where he was 0-2, 4.50 after 9 starts. On May 26th, he was called up to the parent Athletics to replace the injured Aaron Civale on the big league roster. He made his debut that day as the starting pitcher against the Seattle Mariners, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings and being tagged with a 4-1 loss. He won his first game on June 2nd when he gave up 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.
