Biographical Information[edit]

Daito Yamamoto has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Yamamoto was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 3rd round of the development phase in the 2020 NPB draft. He hit .224/.311/.365 in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2021, and he improved to .236/.301/.413 with 12 homers in 2022. He tied Estamy Ureña and Ren Wada for 3rd in homers in the Eastern League, and he also got 2 at-bats for the top team. Yamamoto crushed 9 homers with a .218/.277/.362 batting line in 2023, and he went 1-for-7 in the big club. He then crushed 19 homers with a .279/.335/.494 batting line in 2024, and he led the minors in homers, runs, doubles and RBI. Yamamoto also ranked 5th in batting (between Yuma Yasuda and Yuto Akihiro) and 2nd in hits (17 behind Taisei Chinen). He went 2-for-18 for the top team, and he hit .291/.330/.407 in 23 games for the Sydney Blue Sox in the 2024-2025 Australian Baseball League.

The Tottori native was voted into the 2025 NPB All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-1 in Game 1. Yamamoto was named the starting designated hitter of the Pacific League in Game 2, and he hit a 2-run double against Shoki Murakami in the first inning. He was struck out by Iori Yamasaki in his next at-bat, then he drew a walk against Foster Griffin.
