Biographical Information[edit]
Ren Wada was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 2nd round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first four seasons. He hit .296/.341/.501 with 18 homers in 2018, and he led the minor Eastern League in homers and RBI. Wada also went 1-for-8 with the big club, and the Giants traded him to the Rakuten Golden Eagles for Yuri Furukawa. He played a career-high 31 games with a .252/.277/.364 batting line in 2019, and he went 2-for-16 in 2020. Wada only got 8 at-bats in 2021, and he hit .069/.067/.069 in 11 games in 2022. He led the minor leagues with 71 RBI in 2023, but he went 1-for-5 with the top team and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Wada hit .202/.225/.277 with 35 hits in 6 seasons in NPB.
