Andrew Lambo reached the major leagues in 2013.
Lambo was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 4th round of the 2007 amateur draft after being scouted by Chuck Crim. He hit .343/.440/.519 for the GCL Dodgers that year, finishing among the Gulf Coast League leaders in average (third), OBP (2nd to Michael Burgess) and slugging (5th). Baseball America rated him as the #10 prospect in the GCL and #14 in the Dodgers chain. He failed to make the league All-Star team as Burgess, Ben Revere and Alfredo Silverio were chosen as the outfielders.
Andrew starred in 2008 with the Great Lakes Loons (.288/.346/.462 in 123 G) and Jacksonville Suns (.389/.421/.750 in 8 G). Overall, he had 35 doubles, 18 home runs and 91 RBI. He tied for 5th in the Midwest League in doubles (33), was 6th in RBI (79) and 7th in slugging (.462). He was named to the MWL All-Star outfield alongside Revere and Evan Frey. Baseball America rated him as the MWL's #7 prospect between Engel Beltre and Philippe Aumont. He was ranked as the #49 prospect in all of baseball by the same publication and #1 in the Dodgers chain.
In 2009, Lambo batted .256/.311/.407 in an off-year for the Chattanooga Lookouts. He was third in the Southern League in doubles (39). Baseball America still picked him as the 18th-best SL prospect between Sean West and Daniel Schlereth, downgrading him to 7th in the Dodgers system. He hit .330 that fall for the Peoria Javelinas.
Lambo began 2010 with Chattanooga again and was hitting .271/.325/.450 after 47 games. At the trading deadline, Los Angeles shipped him with James McDonald to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Octavio Dotel. He was assigned to the Altoona Curve and batted .385/.455/.583 in his first ten games there.
Lambo hit his first career home run on September 28, 2013, against Logan Ondrusek of the Cincinnati Reds. It was the Pirates' sixth homer that day, the most by the team since August 22, 2007, and it came in an 8-3 win that guaranteed that the team would host the Reds in the 2013 National League Wild Card Game.
