Biographical Information[edit]

Chuck Crim was signed as a 17th round pick in the 1982 amateur draft by the Milwaukee Brewers and scout Milt Sobel. He was a reliable component of the Brew Crew bullpen from 1987 to 1991, saving 42 games while twice leading the American League in appearances. Chuck's league leading seasons were his best, with a 7-6, 2.91 mark and 9 saves in 70 games (105 innings) in 1988 and a 9-7, 2.83 season with 7 saves in 76 games (117 2/3 innings) in 1989. He was traded to the California Angels for Mike Fetters after the 1991 season and was never the same pitcher, battling through shoulder injuries in three more seasons, the last for the Chicago Cubs.

After retiring, Crim served as the head pitching director at SHO-ME Baseball Camp in Branson, MO from 1995-2002. Moving to California, he was a coach at Canyon High School in Canyon Country, CA for three years. Crim coached the junior varsity in 2003 and was the varsity head coach for the Cowboys in 2004-2005. He was hired as a Southern/Mid California area scout by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fall of 2006. He signed Nick Gaudi and Matt Magill. After two years of scouting, Crim turned to coaching in the Dodgers minor league system. He was the pitching coach of the Ogden Raptors in 2009, Great Lakes Loons in 2010, and Chattanooga Lookouts in 2011-2012. Crim's staff at Chattanooga posted a Southern League-best 3.66 ERA in 2011 and was second-best in 2012 (3.57). The Dodgers promoted him to bullpen coach of the major league team in 2013 where he stayed until the end of the 2015 season.
