On July 3rd, the 1983 Texas Rangers set an all-time record when they scored 12 runs in the 15th inning in a 16-4 win over the Oakland Athletics. Two teams had previously scored 11 runs in an extra inning, most recently the 1969 Minnesota Twins, and no other team would score as many as ten runs in an extra frame until the 2026 New York Mets.
