Biographical information[edit]

Pitcher Ben Pfinsgraff spent three seasons in the minor leagues.

Pfinsgraff was All-County in high school in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, he was MVP of the Maryland American Legion Tournament. He threw the first no-hitter in the history of his high school. Going on to Allegheny College, he had a 5-2, 5.00 record as a freshman.

Pfinsgraff transferred to the University of Maryland and was their ace in 2004, going 4-5 with a 3.95 ERA to lead the team in wins and ERA. In '05, he had a 4-3, 3.45 record. He faded to 3-7, 5.87 as a junior but walked only 13 in 87 1/3 IP.

He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 22nd round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was twice chosen for a mid-season All-Star team; in 2006, he was picked for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game, and in 2007, was selected to play the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.

He split 2006 between the Batavia Muckdogs (4-4, Sv, 1.12, 25 H, 10 BB, 44 K in 40 1/3 IP) and Lakewood BlueClaws (1-2, 2.28, 25 K in 23 2/3 IP). He tied for the New York-Penn League lead with one complete game. In 2007, he pitched for Lakewood (2-1, 2.43, 38 K in 33 1/3 IP) and the Clearwater Threshers (0-2, 8.35). In 2008, Pfinsgraff was with Lakewood (2-3, Sv, 3.41, 37 K in 37 IP) and Clearwater (1-2, 6.44, 42 H in 29 1/3 IP).

He was acquired by the Arvernes de Clermont-Ferrand of Division Elite in 2009.
