Biographical Information

Zack Leban has pitched as high as AAA and has been on the Israeli national team.

He had a 1.17 ERA as a high school senior. He was 1-1 with a 7.64 ERA as a college freshman, then improved to 3-3 with a save and a 3.57 ERA as a sophomore. He went 1-0 with a 8.49 ERA for the Falmouth Commodores in the 2017 Cape Cod League. His junior year, he posted a 4-3, 4.62 record with 12 saves. He paced the Big 12 Conference in saves, one ahead of Troy Montemayor.

The Miami Marlins took him in the 12th round of the 2018 amateur draft. In his pro debut, he went 0-2 with a 7.24 ERA for the GCL Marlins. He missed the 2019 season then the 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Returning to action in 2021, he pitched at every level from A to AAA, going a combined 1-2 with 3 saves and a 3.38 ERA; most of his action was with the AA Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He slipped to 1-3, 6.40 for the 2022 Blue Wahoos and also was briefly with the FCL Marlins, presumably on a rehab stint (1-0, 0 R in 3 2/3 IP). In 2023, he pitched for Pensacola (1-0, Sv, 5.48 in 15 G) and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Sv, 5.29 in 12 G). He went 1-1 with a 2.38 ERA in winter ball for the Leones de Ponce.

Leban moved on to the independent leagues in 2024, going 3-4 with 3 saves and a 5.66 ERA in 33 games for the Kansas City Monarchs. He was superb that winter for Ponce (2-0, 0.95 in 25 G). He led the Puerto Rican League in appearances, one ahead of Jake McSteen and Alexis Rivero. Adding a third country to his travels, he went 2-0 with a 5.12 ERA for the 2025 Sultanes de Monterrey.

Zack was a late addition to Israel's team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, joining after Josh Blum, Eli Morgan and Robert Stock withdrew. Despite that late inclusion and the presence of 7 MLB vets on the squad, he led the team with three appearances, allowing one run in 1 2/3 IP.
