Biographical Information[edit]

Yutaro Itayama has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Itayama was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 6th round of the 2015 NPB draft; the scout was Takayoshi Nakao. He hit .236/.283/.302 in 40 games in 2016, but he only got 3 at-bats in 2017. Itayama then hit .281/.353/.401 with 14 steals in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2018, and he was 9-for-35 with the top team. He led the Western League with 98 hits, and he was 3rd in doubles (tied with Alejandro Mejia) and 3rd in batting (between Hikaru Kawase and Go Kamamoto). He only played 5 games combined for the big club in the next two seasons, and he hit .143/.250//.357 in 43 games in 2021. Itayama only got 25 more at-bats for the big club, and he was released in 2023. The Chunichi Dragons signed him, and he recorded a .236/.290/.343 batting line in 2024. He played a career-high 84 games in a utility role in 2025, but his batting line fell to .207/.251/.291 with 2 triples.
