Biographical Information[edit]

Go Kamamoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Kamamoto was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the first round of the development phase in the 2011 NPB draft; the scout was Takayoshi Nakao. He only got 7 at-bats combined in his first seven seasons for the big club, and he also hit .214/.214/.357 in 7 games for the Gigantes de Carolina in the winter after the 2014 season, and he led the Western League in steals in 2016 and 2017. He finally got some chances in 2019, and he played 86 games with 11 steals and a .220/.270/.312 batting line. Kamamoto slumped to .192/.276/.192 in 2020, and he was 5-for-10 in 2021. The Hawks then released him, and he signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles. He didn't reach the big club in 2022, and he announced his retirement.

He had hit .222/.273/.315 in 235 PA in NPB, but was 16-for-19 in steal attempts. The fleet-footed flyhawk had batted .269 and slugged .399 in the minors, with 130 swipes in 196 attempts.
