Team History[edit]

The team's original logo, used from 2006 to 2013

Following the 2005 season, the Vermont Expos of the New York-Penn League announced they would be known as the Vermont Lake Monsters beginning in 2006. Major League Baseball had demanded that the team eliminate the nickname Expos. The club is an affiliate of the Oakland A's. The name comes from the alleged presence in Lake Champlain of a large snake-like creature known by locals as "Champ".

The team's offices are located in Winooski, VT while its ballpark is on the University of Vermont campus in Burlington, VT.

The team introduced a new logo after the 2013 season.
