Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Jeff Garber was among the leaders in the country in 1988 with 82 runs scored in 56 games for James Madison University. He was drafted in the 10th round of the 1988 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals, and played in the Royals' system from 1988 to 1995, reaching AAA in 1991, 1994, and 1995. After completing his playing career, Garber earned a Master of Education in Health and Physical Education/Fitness/Kinesiology from Valdosta State University.
Garber continued with the Royals after his playing career ended in a variety of roles. He was a hitting coach for the Spokane Indians in 1996 before become manager of the club the next year. After six seasons of managing, Garber held the dual role of Minor League Field Coordinator & Coordinator of Instruction in 2003. It is unknown what his exact role(s) was for the next three years, but he concluded his Royals tenure in 2007 as the Royals' Minor League Field & Outfield Coordinator.
From 2008-2025, Garber worked in the Washington Nationals player development system. He was the team's Minor League Field Coordinator in 2008. In 2009 and 2010, Garber served as both the manager of the Vermont Lake Monsters and Minor League Infield Coordinator. He continued as the Infield Coordinator through 2013. Garber was a Minor League Co-Field Coordinator from 2014-2021. In the latter year he also worked as the Nationals' Infield Coordinator. Garber served as the Minor League Assistant Field Coordinator in 2022 and Fundamentals Coordinator for the FCL Nationals in 2023. He spent both 2024 & 2025 as the organization's Minor League Fundamentals Coordinator. Garber's contract with the Nationals was not renewed after the 2025 season amidst widespread changes in the Nationals player development program.
