First baseman Tommy Peterman played professionally from 1996 to 2002, peaking at Double-A.
He was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 11th round of the 1996 amateur draft and began his pro career that year. His most impressive run was from 1998 to 1999, when he hit .312/.387/.505 with 20 home runs, 36 doubles and 110 RBI in 135 games for the Fort Myers Miracle in 1998 and .262/.338/.426 with 20 homers and 84 RBI in 140 games for the New Britain Rock Cats in 1999. In 1998, he led the Florida State League in intentional walks (13) and was second in hits (162, tied with Mike Lamb, behind Alex Sanchez's 180), total bases (282, behind Shawn Gallagher's 283), doubles (tied with Brent Abernathy and Rusty McNamara, behind Gallagher's 37) and RBI (behind Gallagher's 121). He was an All-Star that year. In 1999, he was second in the Eastern League in games, behind Jamey Carroll's 141. He was a regular face in New Britain, spending 1999 to 2001 there. He wrapped up his career in independent ball in 2002, hitting .310/.367/.401 in 76 games between the Schaumburg Flyers and St. Paul Saints.
Overall, he hit .280/.343/.414 with 67 home runs and 392 RBI in 731 games over 7 seasons at all levels.
Prior to playing professionally, he was named a 1st-Team College Freshman All-American in 1994, made the 1995 Southern Conference Tournament All-Tournament team as a first baseman, was named Southern Conference All-Conference in 1996 and was also the Southern Conference's Player of the Year in 1996.
