Biographical Information

Todd Hundley was a major league catcher for 14 seasons between 1990 and 2003. He played for three teams in his career, the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers (two stints) and Chicago Cubs. Playing for the Mets in 1996, he hit 41 home runs and drove in 118 runs. He then followed that by hitting another 30 homers in 1997. He was an All-Star both of these seasons, but his production fell off a cliff in 1998, when he hit just .161 with 3 homers in 53 games. He had only one more good season with the bat after that, when he hit .284 with 24 homers and 70 RBIs for the Dodgers in 2000: it was his only season with an OPS+ above 100 from 1998 to 2003.

His father, Randy Hundley, was the starting catcher on the 1969 Chicago Cubs and was an occasional color commentator for the team's radio team, subbing for Ron Santo.

While a member of the Chicago Cubs, Todd Hundley gave a fan in Wrigley Field the finger. Unfortunately for him, he did this while the TV cameras were on him. Even worse, he wasn't hitting at all when he did it. He'd had some problems with the boo birds before this, but for the rest of his days in Chicago he was booed all the time.

He hit a home run on opening day four seasons in a row between 1994 and 1997.

He had a cameo in a sketch on Saturday Night Live on December 13, 1997.
