• 1966 - University of Southern California star Tom Seaver signs a deal with the Atlanta Braves; the deal will later be voided.
• 1977 - Ron Fairly (pictured) is traded to the Toronto Blue Jays and will become the first player on both major league Canadian teams as a result.
• 2003 - Commissioner Bud Selig bans the use of ephedra after it was linked to the death of Steve Bechler.
