Biographical Information[edit]
Taiji Maruyama was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 7th round of the 2001 NPB draft, and he was 0-for-3 in 2002. He was traded with Takashi Tanaka to the Yakult Swallows for Hirotsugu Maeda in 2004, but he never returned to the big club before he announced his retirement in 2007. He later became a scout, signing Seiya Hashimoto, Ryui Itoh, Hideki Nagaoka, Hidetaka Namiki, Noboru Shimizu, Shunsuke Shimokawa, Haruto Tanaka (interestingly, the son of Takashi Tanaka, who he had once been traded alongside) and Daiki Yoshida.
