Biographical Information[edit]

Steve Bieser played in the majors for the New York Mets in 1997 and the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1998, batting .250 in 60 games. In a thirteen-year minor league career, Bieser played at least six games at every position except at first base and shortstop. In the majors, he played outfield and saw time as a catcher. His best minor league season came with the Ottawa Lynx of the International League in 1996 when he hit .322 in 123 games; he set personal bests for games, at-bats (382), hits (123), doubles (24), runs scored (63) and total bases (158) that season. He hit only 1 home run, but that was typical as he hit only 13 in 13 minor league seasons, with 8 of these coming in 1999; he did not hit any in the majors.

After his playing career, he coached for St. John Vianney High School (137-51 from 2004-2010, two state titles). He was pitching coach of his alma mater, Southeast Missouri State University, in 2011-2012. He then became head coach and was 138-97 in four seasons, setting a school record with 39 wins in 2016. In 2017, he was named head coach at the University of Missouri. In 7 seasons at Missouri, Bieser was 188-155-1, before being fired after the 2023 season. He then became head coach at Jacksonville State University for 2024. After three seasons at Jacksonville St., including a trip to the 2026 CWS Regionals, Bieser moved to Grand Canyon University as head coach in 2027.
