Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Sheldon Neuse was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 2nd round of the 2016 amateur draft, out of the University of Oklahoma. He had earlier been a 38th round pick by the Texas Rangers out of high school in 2013, but had decided to go on to college.

The Nationals assigned Sheldon to the Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League to begin his pro career in 2016. Playing mainly third base, he hit .230/.305/.341 in 36 games. In 2016, he was promoted to full-season ball with the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League, where he hit .291/.349/.469 in 77 games, split between shortstop and third base. On July 16th, he accompanied P Blake Treinen and another prospect, Jesus Luzardo, to the Oakland Athletics in a trade for Ps Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle.
