Biographical Information

Seiji Kawagoe has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Kawagoe was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 2nd round of the 2015 NPB draft as a pitcher, and he spent his first four seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He was turned into an outfielder in 2019, and he hit .214/.255/.338 with 8 homers in the minors. Kawagoe played 48 games with a .156/.260/.281 batting line for the big club in 2020, and he hit .225/.283/.350 in 63 games in 2021. He improved to .259/.346/.381 in 50 games in 2022, but he then lost his spot after young outfielders Shinya Hasegawa and Takuya Hiruma shined. Kawagoe was 4-for-30 in 2023 before the Lions traded him to the Chunichi Dragons for Wataru Takamatsu, and he was 7-for-33 in 2023. He played 27 games with a .268/.307/.394 batting line in 2024.
