Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Ruddy Giron played in the San Diego Padres system from 2014 to 2019, peaking at Double-A. He began his career at 17 years old.

Perhaps his best season was 2015, when at just 18 years old, he hit .285/.335/.407 with 9 home runs, 49 RBI and 15 steals in 96 games for the Fort Wayne TinCaps. That prompted both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline to rank him the #4 prospect in the Padres system in 2016. They both ranked him between Hunter Renfroe and Jose Rondon. He never hit above .259 again.

Overall, he hit .242/.292/.349 with 25 home runs and 161 RBI in 487 games over 6 seasons. He also had a 0.00 ERA in 4 relief appearances.

He later became a coach in the Padres system. In 2022, he was a bench coach for the DSL Padres. In 2023, he was co-hitting coach of the DSL Padres Brown, alongside Yunir Garcia. He remained with the Brown squad in 2024 and his coaching partner was Edinson Rincon. Giron moved up to the ACL Padres in 2025 where he was co-hitting coach with Nolan Earley. He became the Lake Elsinore Storm hitting coach in 2026.
