Biographical Information[edit]

Rick Witt played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues.

Witt was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 38th round of the 1977 Amateur Draft and the Chicago White Sox in the 13th round of the 1978 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign either time. He represented the USA in the 1979 Pan American Games. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him in the 3rd round of the 1979 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign again. Witt was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 22nd round of the 1980 Amateur Draft, and he hit .292/.393/.435 for the Walla Walla Padres in 1980. That was his only season as a professional player. He was inducted into the Gonzaga University Hall of Fame in 1995.
