Biographical Information[edit]
Ramon Geronimo pitched in the Cincinnati Reds system from 2006 to 2009 and in independent ball in 2010. He peaked at Double-A.
He started with the DSL Reds in 2006, going 0-1 with 27 saves, 28 games finished and a 0.28 ERA in 29 relief appearances; he had 36 strikeouts and a 0.821 WHIP in 31 2/3 innings. He was a Dominican Summer League Post-Season All-Star and the league's Pitcher of the Year. He led the circuit in games finished and saves and was second in total appearances, behind Gregorio Geronimo's 34. In 2007, he went 7-3 with 12 saves and a 2.45 ERA in 49 games for the Dayton Dragons and in 2008, he was 1-2 with 13 saves and a 1.93 mark in 53 games for the Sarasota Reds and Chattanooga Lookouts. He was a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star that year. In 65 1/3 frames, he had 75 Ks and another WHIP below 1. After slipping to 4-3 with a 4.87 ERA in 50 games for the Carolina Mudcats in 2009, he moved to the indy ranks for 2010, going 4-1 with 21 saves and a 3.11 ERA in 37 games for the Amarillo Dillas of the United League. He led the league in games finished (35) and was second in saves (behind Julio Castro's 22).
Overall, Geronimo went 16-10 with 78 saves, 161 games finished and a 2.88 ERA in 219 games. In 265 1/3 innings, he allowed 214 hits and 97 walks (1.172 WHIP), while striking out 242 batters.
