Biographical Information[edit]
Noah Perio played in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national baseball team.
Perio was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 39th round of the 2009 Amateur Draft (the scout was John Hughes), and he went 6-for-14 for the GCL Marlins in his first season. He then had a .258/.313/.302 batting line with the Jamestown Jammers in 2010, and he improved to .295/.323/.406 with 30 doubles for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2011. Perio was 3rd in the South Atlantic League in hits (tied with Christian Yelich)and 9th in runs (tied with Jake Skole and Brett Tanos). Among Marlins farmhands, he was 4th with 76 runs (between Vinny Rottino and Ryan Fisher), tied Pelich for the hit lead (144), was 5th in doubles (between Rottino and Marcell Ozuna) and was 10th with 15 steals. He played 119 games with a .248/.293/.311 batting line for the Jupiter Hammerheads in 2012, and he hit .241/.282/.265 for the Hammerheads in 2013. Perio also played 57 games for the Jacksonville Suns, and he hit .232/.297/.288 with 7 doubles. He stayed in Jupiter in 2014, and he hit .242/.289/.296 with 11 doubles, fielding .966 as their main second baseman.
After leaving the Marlins system, Perio signed with the Sioux City Explorers in 2015 and he batted .316/.345/.458 with 18 steals. He led the American Association in hits, and he tied Rene Leveret for 5th in RBI (74). He was named the All-Star shortstop. He then had a .338/.371/.483 batting line in 35 games for the Explorers in 2016, and the Los Angeles Dodgers signed him. Perio went 5-for-19 for the Tulsa Drillers, and he hit .355/.388/.612 for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and .288/.321/.363 for the Great Lakes Loons. The San Diego Padres then signed him with a minor league contract, and he hit .281/.330/.363 for the San Antonio Missions in 2017, fielding .990 at 2B and .996 at 1B.
Perio returned to the American Association in 2018, and he recorded a .312/.371/.377 batting line for the St. Paul Saints and .297/.359/.479 for the Kansas City T-Bones. He then joined the Mexican League in 2019, and he hit .295/.338/.484 in 55 games for the Acereros de Monclova and .233/.288/.267 for the Pericos de Puebla. Perio represented Mexico in the 2019 Premier 12, and he went 2-for-4 with a double against J.P. Feyereisen of the USA. He was 1-for-3 with a walk against Chinese Taipei, and he had a 0-for-3 record against Australia. Perio bounced back soon, and he collected 3 runs and 2 hits against the Netherlands. He 1-for-12 in their remaining 3 games, and Mexico won Bronze in the event. His five runs in the tourney tied him for 5th, even with Ryosuke Kikuchi, Hyun-soo Kim, Erik Kratz, Jung-hoo Lee and Charlie Valerio.
The Mexican League was cancelled due to COVID-19 in 2020, and Perio recorded a solid .311/.381/.383 batting line for the Acereros in 2021. He hit .321/.372/.526 in 2022, and he went 10-for-31 in 2023 before going to the Toros de Tijuana in 2023. Perio hit .277/.339/.367 in 72 games in Tijuana that season, but he struggled with the Tigres de Quintana Roo in 2024 as his batting line fell to .158/.158/.184.
