Biographical Information[edit]

Morgan McSweeney has pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

McSweeney was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 17th round of the 2019 Amateur Draft, and he was 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA for the Aberdeen IronBirds in his first season. After the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the minors, he stayed with the IronBirds in 2021 and he had a 2-5 record with a 5.09 ERA. He also pitched 8 games for the AA Bowie Baysox, and his ERA was 1.93. McSweeney then went 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA for the Baysox in 2022, and he was 4-2 with a 4.18 ERA for the AAA Norfolk Tides. He completed a no-hitter along with Garrett Stallings on May 8 against the Harrisburg Senators. McSweeney stayed in AAA for the entire 2023 season, but his ERA was 5.48 in 12 relief outings. He pitched 6 games with a 4.22 ERA for the Baysox in 2024, and he completed 6 2/3 shutout innings in Norfolk. The Orioles released him in July, and he went 2-1 with a 4.19 ERA for the Gastonia Baseball Club. McSweeney went 4-2 with a 3.00 ERA for the Staten Island FerryHawks in 2025, and the Miami Marlins signed him. He was 3-3 with a 2.21 ERA for the AAA Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, and he became a free agent. The Rakuten Monkeys of the CPBL signed him in 2026.
