Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Tyler played in the minor leagues and for the USA national baseball team.
Tyler represented the USA in the 1973 Intercontinental Cup; the US won Bronze. The Houston Astros picked him in the 14th round of the 1975 Amateur Draft, and he hit .300/.363/.379 for the Covington Astros in his first season. Tyler played 89 games with a .266/.335/.367 batting line for the Dubuque Packers in 1976, and his batting line was .215/.312/.291 in 32 games with the Columbus Astros. He then recorded a .242/.280/.289 batting line in 49 games in Columbus in 1977, and he also played 3 games for the AAA Charleston Charlies. Tyler crushed 5 homers with a .265/.347/.398 batting line for the Charlies in 1978, then he hit .224/.284/.238 in 50 games there in 1979. He moved to the Pittsburgh Pirates system in 1980, and he had a .222/.250/.273 batting line in 40 games for the Portland Beavers then he announced his retirement.
