Biographical Information[edit]
Miguel Fabrizio has played in the Dominican Republic, USA and Italy. He has been on the Italian national team.
He was signed by Chicago Cubs scouts Carlos Figueroa and Hector Ortega in August 2017. [1] He split 2018 between the DSL Cubs 1 and DSL Cubs 2, hitting a composite .277/.340/.383, fielding .978 and throwing out 28% who tried to steal. He was back with the same teams in 2019, batting .270/.350/.397 between them and gunning down 45%. The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He dazzled for the 2021 ACL Cubs, producing at a .372/.441/.584 clip, while playing more first than catcher. He tied Arol Vera and Wilfred Veras for the Arizona Complex League with 16 doubles. Had he qualified, he would've paced the ACL in average and slugging and been second to Milkar Pérez in OBP. [2] He was named the ACL All- Star first baseman. [3]
Fabrizio split 2022 between the ACL Cubs (.294/.467/.471 in 14 G) and Myrtle Beach Pelicans (.152/.253/.318 in 21 G); in '23, he was with the same two teams, batting .219/.250/.292 for Myrtle Beach and going 5-for-11 with two doubles and five walks in the ACL. Moving on to Italy, he hit .308/.325/.462 in limited time for Macerata in 2024. His batting line for them in 2025 was .286/.361/.457. He then played for Italy in the 2025 European Championship, backing up Alberto Mineo at catcher. He had his best game against Lithuania, with a 3-run homer off Lukas Morkūnas, a single facing Justinas Račkauskas and a two-run single against Domantas Trinkunas. In the title game, he pinch-hit for Ricardo Paolini and struck out against Wendell Floranus. Staying in at 1B (Renzo Martini switching spots), he was retired by Eric Mendez his other time up in the 6-5 loss. He hit .444/.444/.778 for the tourney; his six RBI tied Jhorjan Guevara for 3rd on Italy despite his backup role, as he trailed only Giaconino Lasaracina and Noel González. [4]
