Biographical Information[edit]

Luke Wakamatsu played in the minor leagues and in Nippon Pro Baseball. His father is former Major League manager Don Wakamatsu, and his brother Jake Wakamatsu also played in the minor leagues.

Wakamatsu was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 20th round of the 2015 Amateur Draft, and he hit .267/.339/.400 in 27 games for the AZL Indians in his first season. He went 16-for-69 with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2016, and he played 100 games with 12 homers and a .239/.301/.395 batting line in 2017 for the Lake County Captains. Wakamatsu struggled in 2018 as his batting line was .197/.304/.269 for the Lynchburg Hillcats, and he batted .150/.219/.271 in 98 games for the Hillcats in 2019. Wakamatsu also played one game for the AAA Columbus Clippers that season. After the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the minors in 2020, Wakamatsu signed with the Chunichi Dragons and he hit .255/.336/.347 in 36 games in the NPB Farm Leagues. He recorded a .236/.349/.350 batting line in the minors in 2022, and he also went 0-for-3 with the big club. The Dragons released him after that season, and his professional career ended.
