Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Luke Keaschall was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 2nd round of the 2023 amateur draft. He was coming out of Arizona State University, where he had hit .353 with 25 doubles and 18 homers in 55 games as a junior after transferring from the University of San Francisco the year before.
He played for three different teams after signing with the Twins on July 18, 2023: the FCL Twins, the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels of the Florida State League, and the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League. In 31 games total, his slash line was .288/.414/.478, with 3 homers, 29 runs, 15 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in as many attempts. In 2024, he started the season with Cedar Rapids, hitting .335 in 44 games. That earned him a promotion to the Wichita Wind Surge of the AA Texas League on May 27th, just as he was named the Midwest League Player of the Month for May, then an invitation to play in the 2024 Futures Game. Unfortunately, his season ended in early August due to an injury, but he had hit .281 in 59 games for Wichita. His overall line was .303/.420/.483 in 103 games, with 80 runs scored, 15 homers, 48 RBIs and 23 steals.
He started the 2025 season in AAA with the St. Paul Saints, hitting .261 in his first 14 games. He was then promoted to Minnesota and made his debut on April 18th, as the starting DH against the Atlanta Braves, going 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in a 6-4 loss. However, in just his 7th game on April 25th, he suffered a right forearm fracture after being hit by a pitch by Kyle Hendricks of the Los Angeles Angels, and that led to a long stay on the injured list. He only returned on August 5th after a rehabilitation assignment with St. Paul, going 2 for 4 and hitting his first major league homer off Chris Paddack in a 6-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. Paddack had been his teammate when he made his debut with the Twins, but had been traded to Detroit when he was on the IL. The two hits extended his hitting streak since the start of his career to seven (the game in which he was injured not counting, as he did not get an at-bat that day).
