Biographical Information[edit]
After signing his first pro contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1962, former catcher Luis Isaac moved to the Cleveland Indians organization after being selected in the AA phase of the 1965 Rule V Draft.
He was a player/coach in the minors from 1973 to 1977. In 1978 he began the year as coach of the Portland Beavers and ended it as manager of the Batavia Trojans, leading the team to a 34-38 record. Isaac was a coach with the Chattanooga Lookouts in 1979, and was a scout from 1980 to mid-1987, while coaching rookie league teams. He was the Indians' bullpen coach from 1987 to 1991 before spending two seasons coaching in the minors with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (1992) and Charlotte Knights (1993). He returned as the bullpen coach of the Indians in 1994. At the conclusion of the 2008 season, and without explanation, the Indians fired Isaac after 44 years with the organization.
Luis' cousin Juan Lopez is the bullpen pitcher for the New York Mets.
