Biographical Information

Kazuya Katsuki has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Katsuki represented Japan in the 2014 BFA U-18 Baseball Championship. The Chiba Lotte Marines selected him in the 5th round of the 2014 NPB draft, and he hit .227/.278/.284 with 3 homers in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2015. He improved to .281/.316/.379 with 6 homers in 2016, and he was 4th in batting (between Takahiro Kakizawa and Ryuzo Hijii), 2nd in hits (3 behind Naoki Shirane) and 3rd in doubles (1 behind Yuto Takahama and Shirane) in the Eastern League. He also went 1-for-6 with the big club. Katsuki then went 8-for-47 in 2017, and he was 5-for-33 in 2019 after he spent a year in the minors.

The Marines then traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for Hirokazu Sawamura, and he went 0-for-9 in 2020. He hit .203/.277/.407 in 39 games in 2021, and he was 7-for-35 in 2022. He was placed in the minors in 2023, and the Giants released him. Katsuki signed with the Orix Buffaloes, and he hit .262/.364/.376 in the minors in 2024.
